The pre-purchase survey is one of the most comprehensive types of inspections and is highly recommended when purchasing a new or used vessel.
The inspection examines everything that is visible and can be accessed without disassembly or the use of tools to provide access. The vessel’s overall condition and on board systems are examined including electrical, propane, sanitation, electronic and navigation equipment. Structural soundings are taken and, if required, moisture levels recorded.
An external visual inspection is made of the mechanical system and a specialized mechanical survey by an accredited marine mechanic is strongly recommended. Standing and running rigging is visually inspected from deck level.
Attendance at sea trials is not included in the normal survey charge but arrangements can be made for the surveyor to accompany the Client at time of booking.
